calligraphical architecture

This is a concept building designed by Sarah Schneider. Sarah is a architect at Gramazio & Kohler, Zurich, Switzerland. And odly enough she's got the same name as a collagehumor comedian... And yes, I checked it out and their not the same person.

The building is made with a so called calligraphic style, something I myself never seen before.

Creative re-using

Thinking green is always up and BottleHood has with a eco-focus found its own nisch through cutting of glass bottles and selling them. It's really a simple way of redesigning a product. They make juice and shot glasses, vases, bowls and more.

Even thou simple, it is a really way of reusing what has already been made and putting good resources to good use.

One Broom Chair

One Good Chair is a design competition where the designers are challenged to go in to in two totally diffrent directions, building green and maximizing human comfort, utility, durability and beauty (or what an economist would just simply call maxmizing utility), without comprimising any of them. It can be described as a minimizing/mazimizing challenge.

Anyhow, there where several winners in the 2010 edition of One Good Chair and this "broom-chair" above was one of them. It is basicly colored plastic parts and broomlike pieces that are assemblied into this very interesting chair. Easy to assembly and transport, that's for sure and does minimize production and material use, since it only consists of two different materials.

I absolutely don't have any doubts that this could be really comfortable sitting in. I would use it as a part of a outdoors furnishing, as it reminds me of activities done outside (but that is just a matter of taste). As long as the plastic is strong enougth it will hold for a long time. Would I call it a beautiful chair? By itself no, but as a part of a bigger assembly it could create a beautiful concept.

The name? Simply "Broom Chair", and I guess you already know where Baita Design Studio has gotten their inspiration from.

Filming the future

Kix- a design studio placed in Berlin has designed this piece of art rather than "just a camera" for HP. There are two versions of it, the SC and the SE cam. Read more about them here:
LET'S SWITCH POINT OF VIEW

The camera(s) fits right into your hands and and holds a high degree of elegancy. It is a bit futurish as many products are, but this could be a new guideline for future design and I am positive this would quickly become popular if compact enougth to give the consumer a high technology level.

To the right of the lensehouse to whole upper area of the camera is a screen and within the screen is a part where the user can see what's getting filmed.

Kix makes designs in a wide variety of areas and you could take a look.

Stickhouse

The Caracas Symphony Complex
The Caracas Symphony Complex is a architectural work of art. You have to check it out because it is simply genius. Kris Found this at dezeen.com. This is not yet a finished building, it will be done 2016, it is the winner of a competition to build a music complex. ADJKM Arquitectos are the guys who made this house.

Dezeen
Their mission is, as they say:

"to bring you a carefully edited selection of the best architecture, design and interiors projects from around the world before anyone else."

Dezeen was launched at the end of November 2006 and has grown rapidly. And with over 2 million views per month it has become one of the most popular and influential architecture and design blogs on the internet.

A little bit about us...
We are two swedish students who want to get our opinions out there. We have a great love for design but think that there is alot of room for improvment in the world of products, cars, architecture, graphics and so on.
Me, Carl, I am a right at this moment a second year bachelor designstudent from Stockholm. I go to UID in Umeå (north of Sweden). My name is Carl and if I have to pick a favorite designed object I would probably say anything from apple, my god that was a boring answer...! but its probably true.
Kris, is a third year economics student from Stockholm and does not have a formel education in design. He goes to school in south of Sweden. He doesnt really have a favorit design.

And the most interesting thing about this blog is that we will have something that no other designblog has, wich is two different perspectives. One is a designers perspektive, the other one is of a layman.

So, our thoughts about the house...
Carl thinks. I actually like this house because the open spaces and the big windows give a posibility for a wonderfull view. The sticks kind of remind me of the sunglasses that Kanye West used to wear a while back. The ones without any lenses. But then it just looked tacky, but even I used to own a pair. Tacky equals good in that sence. I also like the structure of it. Talking about masterpieces, this reminds me of the house called Falling water. Check it out.

Kris thinks. Using the "sticks" as an outer shell gives the building a transparency that in itself creates a sence of depth in the structure. It is hard to say that this feeling would be accomplished in real life, but in the pictures it looks amazing. Make sure to look at the pics of the inside design through the link above.
